Tips From The Top

  • Private Home Cinema’s Secret Key

Yeah, we all love image when it comes to private home theaters. There’s been so much of advancement in the quality of images in our home theaters – what’s not to love?

However, we’re not here to talk about the image. We love image – don’t get us wrong! – but there’s a key ingredient that’s so effective you almost don’t notice it.

If you know us, you know our core passion: Sound.

Home theater first got going more than three decades ago, with some really meager offerings. Still, as a society, we loved the option to revel in movies and shows in the comfort and privacy of our own homes. Demand was there from the get-go. Tech experts rose to the challenge – and today, the result is incredible options.

For an image, we have both projection and video. Direct view LED displays (DVLED) have gotten a lot of attention lately, especially for the control and versatility they offer in brightness and contrast, color, high dynamic range and other advantages. Some of our clients prefer projection in their home cinema, and we advise and install both options.

We call audio the secret key because, as the writers of recent article in the Cinema Connoisseur point out, “The cohesion between the image and the audio is vital to the phenomenon known as ‘the willing suspension of disbelief.’”

That’s where we come in. Cohesion is achieved through the accuracy of the sound and its natural quality achieved through technology in the space. Integrators bring their experience, tools, design and tech insights to make sure the sound is best suited to your particular home cinema. We know how to create audio that fits naturally in your home – its shape, size, and use – so that you don’t even notice its source. It’s simply a part of the world.

When home cinema first began, we didn’t know much about small room acoustics and had few options to offer clients. Wow, have things changed.

But now we have a new problem. DVLED displays mean the screen wall loudspeakers cannot go where integrators have become accustomed to installing them for immersive sound. And we know our clients – they want a sound quality to match the image.

So we are getting creative in our design and installations. Working with one of our favorite home cinema partners, Paradise Theater, we’ve discovered and offer some outstanding home cinema sound options that far exceed what any of our clients have experienced in the past.

This summer, we’re excited to tell you more about what we’ve finding and offering. Keep checking back here for more details.
