Tips From The Top

  • More benefits for our Josh.ai clients

One of our favorite smart home platforms, Josh.ai, has announced a number of new developments and partnerships that we are thrilled to offer our clients in their automated homes.

As a smart home platform, Josh.ai is renowned for the way it uses natural voice commands and places the utmost importance on a homeowner’s privacy.

This fall, the company becomes the first in the smart home world to offer a touchless, two-way home intercom. This new feature is available to our new and existing Josh.ai clients, with no additional charge. With this feature, people in the home can talk directly with each other no matter where they are. This is a natural step up from the one-day announcement system already in place. No more yelling through the house that dinner is ready or it’s time to go. Now, a two-way intercom function using Josh Micro and Josh Nano means that someone in the front hall can give an announcement: “Okay, Josh, tell everyone we’re leaving in five minutes,” and people in other parts of the house can not only receive the announcement, but respond: “Hey Josh, respond that I’m getting dressed and will be right down.”

Josh.ai is also rolling out the first phase of natural language support for music grouping. Now, home owners can avoid the unnatural voice commands when telling their audio system how to group rooms and areas of the home together. For example, you can now simply say, “Hey Josh, group the living room and dining room music,” to play the same audio in a section of the home, rather than limiting it to just one room.

Another cool development we’re excited to see is that Josh.ai is now more inclusive for home owners and smart home users who have gotten used to talking to other smart assistants with a “wake word” that will accept “Ok Josh,” or “Hey Josh” to activate its far field microphones. Users now have the flexibility to speak more in their natural way, plus advanced word wake sensitivity, so that we can make sure your home’s voice automation experience works best for your particular needs and preferences.

Good news for our Lutron fans, too: Lutron, the world premier lighting and shading experts, have partnered with Josh.ai to offer the Josh.ai Ready Wallplate, to unite a Lutron keypad with Josh nano, giving homeowners much more control. It comes with Palladiom plastic and metal finish options, and is compatible with Palladiom, seeTouch, and Pico keypads.

And for our clients who love Control4 music, Josh.ai has increased its native music integration with Control4 controllers. It now deep-links to Tidal and SiriusXM, along with Pandora.

This is one of the best parts of our jobs as smart technology integrators: working with a terrific company like Josh.ai, on the forefront of smart home automation, that continually evolves and offers more options to our clients.
