Tips From The Top

  • Your Smart Home Deserves a Smarter TV

Looking to upgrade your home theater? LG’s Smart TVs with ThinQ Artificial Intelligence are now even more impressive with Google Assistant voice controls.

At CES 2018 in January, LG introduced ThinQ AI and an advanced image processor in its newest OLED and SUPER UHD TVs. ThinQ allows the application of hundreds of voice requests using LG’s open smart platform and third-party AI services.

With AI functionality embedded in their TVs, users can speak directly into a microphone in the remote control, performing all kinds of functions: you can find and play films, get scores for games, connect to other devices, change the picture mode, and more.

LG’s ThinQ TVs also function as smart home hubs, giving access to other smart home products like the smart lights, speakers, robotic vacuum cleaners, HVAC system, and more. Basically, anything device that can connect to the TV via Wifi or Bluetooth can be integrated and commanded by your voice speaking into the TV’s remote control.

Now that Google Assistant is available on high-end LG TVs, users can also control their TVs through other devices with Google Assistant. Switching from ThinQ to Google Assistant is done by holding the microphone button on the remote to tell the TV you’re giving a voice command.

ThinQ uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to provide intelligent voice-activated control based on LG’s deep learning technology, DeepThinQ. With a seamless, streamlined setup, users can easily connect to gaming consoles and more. You can search for information, images, and more with specific content with real-language requests.

Basically, LG’s ThinQ AI comprehends natural language. So you can simply say, “Turn off the TV when the show is over,” and it will comply.
