Tips From The Top

  • Your Most Important Smart Home Device

What’s the most critical device for smart home owners?

    The remote, of course.

At Jackson Hole A/V, we’re thrilled to be an official integrator of the Control4 home automation platform. The new Control4 Neeo remote is just one more reason why we love to offer this outstanding platform to our clients.

The new Neeo remote is sleek, elegant, simple – and powerful. Inspired by Swiss design, it’s beautiful for your home while giving you excellent smart control. The mix of modern design, with a high-res touchscreen and tactile buttons, is artfully displayed in a remote that feels good to hold and can be integrated with your home’s specific needs.

review by John Sciacca posted on Residential Systems in November perfectly describes why this remote is one of the best available to our smart home clients. Last February, Control4 acquired Neeo, a Switzerland-based company founded in 2016 that is known for its client-centered control designs. The new remote is one of the first gifts of this acquisition – and it’s a great one.

As Sciacca describes in his review, the remote is visually stunning, sleek, and “wicked-thin” at just over 1/3 of an inch thick. It’s just over seven-inches long, and less than two inches wide: not too large, suitable for large and small hands. The top half contains a 3.2-inch high-res touchscreen. The lower half includes the most crucial buttons to allow you to access the most common commands. Made of aluminum, the remote feels good, according to Sciacca, with a “surprising amount of heft.” The bottom part of the remote is clear of buttons, giving it a clutter-free look. The touchscreen is specifically placed for proper thumb position, and highly-sensitive, so it doesn’t mistake a swipe for a press, and screen buttons are placed far enough apart to avoid errors.

As your integrator, we can help you to further customize this awesome remote to best suit your distinct needs. First and foremost, we can add up to five custom buttons that can be programmed to do absolutely anything your Control4 system is capable of – like setting the lights or the shades in your home theater, or switching the remote to control another room. We can also disable the “room off confirmation” screen, lock the remote to a single room, or delete the ability for on-screen control.
