Tips From The Top

  • Total Immersion in 8K

’Tis the season for traveling, skiing, hot tubbing, and hunkering down together for movies and games.

After a day of sensory immersion on the slopes and soaking in a hot tub, who doesn’t love the joy of settling down into total entertainment immersion?

Now, ultra resolution 8K resolution screens make home entertainment systems even more incredible.

There’s been a lot of buzz this past year about the power and reality of 8K screens. The visual and audio dynamics are not to be believed. For gamers whose sole aim is to immerse themselves completely in the experience of the game, 8K could be a quantum leap in gaming evolution. The technology is still new-ish to the market. Our clients are wondering what’s available for movie goers and gamers? And is this the right time?

According to a recent CE Pro podcast, there are a few driving forces behind the jump to 8K. First,  as people’s TV sizes are getting bigger, their living rooms are not. This creates a demand for higher quality resolution images that can be watched in a smaller space. Streaming content is another major driver. As the leading source of content, streaming is flexible, fast. Smart TVs have streamers built in inside. Industry experts predict that streaming content will grow its 8K offerings. People creating shows and movies will want to produce the most in-depth experience they can for their viewers. The technology to produce it is accessible and inexpensive, even for the average YouTube influencer. Netflix, the leading streamer, has produced a few 8K shows.

And sports fans. The first 8K broadcast was the 2020 Olympic games in Japan. Can you imagine immersing yourself close and up-front in a game in a totally crisp, clear image on a 65” screen?

Among gamers, there’s still debate about the advantages of 8K. Is it worth the screen if games are not yet made for it? Though the first 8K PS5 game hit the market in October 2021. And the new Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV is the first TV brand to stream Xbox games – no console needed.

The Samsung 65” Class QN800B Samsung Neo QLED 8K Smart TV is one of the most amazing TVs available today, in our opinion. A billion colors. A “Real Depth Enhancer” feature that works like an actual human eye, processing depth by increasing the foreground contrast. Artificial Intelligence with 20 distinct neural networks to ensure everything is seen in 8K, no matter how it was created. Multi-screen viewing. 3D sound with strategic speakers behind the screen that actually create the sound in the space around you (yes, that was a jet that just flew over your head!).

And seriously – it’s less than an inch deep.
