Walk into a room at nine in the morning and the light is cool, bright, and blue-white — the same light pouring off the snow outside. Come back at dinner and the same fixtures have drifted to golden hour. By the last drink of the evening they have settled to a candlelight glow, dimmed not to 10%, not to 1%, but to 0.1% — the way a fire dies down rather than the way a switch snaps off. Nothing was swapped, nothing was replaced. That is photocentric lighting, and it is why we light entire homes with Lutron Ketra — designed and installed here in Jackson, Teton Village, and Wilson, where we have been building systems into the valley's finest homes since 2002.
Why it matters more at this latitude. Most homes — even exceptional ones — are lit at a single color temperature, chosen once and endured forever. But we evolved under a sky that moves from cool morning through warm evening, and alertness, mood, and sleep still key off that curve. In Jackson Hole, where winter gives you a handful of daylight hours and summer barely gets dark, indoor light that contradicts the sky is felt more sharply than almost anywhere else. Ketra fixtures produce the entire range of natural light and track the sun's actual arc for our latitude — automatically, every day of the year.
Full spectrum, not just dimmable. A dimmer makes the same light weaker. Ketra changes the light itself: 16.7 million colors from a single source, crisp work light to ember-warm, with vibrancy tuning that renders art, stone, and wood finishes the way daylight does. One room becomes four — morning work light, golden hour, candlelight, and a full-color scene for entertaining — without touching the architecture.
Shades on the same clock. We pair Ketra with Lutron Palladiom motorized shades and drapery, so the whole envelope of the house brightens, warms, and settles together. Glare comes off the Tetons view without losing the view; afternoon sun is managed before it becomes heat; and the hardware itself — the Palladiom keypads and brackets — is beautiful enough that designers specify it exposed.
One button, whole house. Lighting is not a system that lives alone. As an authorized Savant and Control4 dealer, we tie Ketra and Palladiom into the same scenes as audio, video, and climate — "Good morning" raises the shades and the color temperature together; "Movie night" settles the room before the first frame. Elegant keypads where you want them, an app everywhere else — and for homes that prefer to simply say it, we integrate Josh.ai, the privacy-first voice control built for luxury homes, so "make the kitchen warmer" is all it takes.
Before the walls close, ideally. Photocentric lighting is a framing-stage decision, not a finish-stage one. The earlier we are in the drawings, the more invisible the system becomes — and the more the light serves the architecture instead of competing with it. We work directly with architects, builders, and interior designers across the valley, with fixture schedules and control programming that fold into the construction set. And if your home is finished, many rooms can still be converted — it is simply a different conversation, and an honest site visit tells us which fixtures can become Ketra and what that earns you.
What is photocentric (circadian) lighting? Lighting that follows the sun's natural curve — cool and bright in the morning, warm and low in the evening — automatically, so the light indoors agrees with the sky outdoors. It is done with full-spectrum fixtures like Lutron Ketra, not with ordinary dimmers, and it changes how a home feels at every hour.
How is Ketra different from a regular Lutron dimmer? A dimmer changes how much light you get; Ketra changes what light you get — color temperature, color, and intensity together, from daylight to a 0.1% candlelight glow, from one fixture. Dimming is one ingredient; Ketra is the whole recipe.
Does this require new construction? No — it is best begun at the drawing stage, and we work with architects and builders across Jackson, Wilson, and Teton Village to design it in before framing. But finished homes convert well room by room: many existing fixtures can be brought onto the system, and a single site visit tells us honestly which can and which cannot.
Are motorized shades worth pairing with the lighting? In this valley, yes — the view is the point of the house, and the sun is strong at altitude. Palladiom shades on the same schedule as the light manage glare and heat without sacrificing the view, and the house transitions through the day as one system instead of two.
What does whole-home lighting control cost? The range is wide — fixture count, whether shades are included, and how much of the home is on the system drive it far more than any single component. We scope the full investment honestly at the design stage, in writing, before anything is ordered — so the number is a decision you make once, not a surprise that grows.
Our home runs on LiteTouch. What now? LiteTouch — the centralized lighting system built into many Jackson Hole homes — was discontinued after Savant acquired it, and parts and support have dried up. The good news: Lutron publishes a UL-listed retrofit designed for exactly this situation, replacing the LiteTouch modules and keypads with Lutron HomeWorks while reusing the existing centralized enclosures and much of the wiring — a migration, not a rewire. We handle these conversions, and once the home is on HomeWorks, everything on this page — Ketra, shades, voice — is open to it.
Our lighting system was installed by someone else. Will you service it? Yes. We take over, reprogram, upgrade, and maintain Lutron systems we did not install — throughout Jackson Hole and the surrounding valleys, including Alpine, Victor, and Driggs. Many of those homes become long-term clients.
