A big television in a dark room is not a theater. A theater is a room engineered from the studs out so that picture and sound arrive exactly as the filmmaker mixed them — and in Jackson Hole, where homes are built to an exceptional standard, the cinema should be built to the same one. We design, build, and calibrate reference-grade private theaters throughout Jackson, Teton Village, Wilson, and the greater valley, and we have been doing it since 2002.

The best work in a theater is invisible. Before a single speaker is chosen, the room itself has to be right: wall construction that keeps a reference-level soundtrack from reaching the primary bedroom, acoustic absorption and diffusion placed by calculation rather than guesswork, sight lines drawn so every seat sees a perfect image, and mechanical systems quieted so the room's noise floor disappears. We produce full acoustical design drawings — reflected ceiling plans, wall elevations, screen-wall construction details — that your builder can frame from. That documentation is rare in this industry, and it is the difference between a theater that impresses on night one and a theater that still thrills in year ten.

Immersive sound, engineered for the room. Modern soundtracks are three-dimensional. Dolby Atmos places sound above and around you — but only if speaker positions, amplifier power, and room acoustics are designed as one system. We build theaters around professional-grade loudspeakers hidden behind acoustically transparent screens and fabric walls, driven by amplification with real headroom, and managed by the same caliber of processors used in post-production studios. You will not see a wall of logos when the lights come up. You will simply hear everything.

A picture worthy of the mountains outside. Laser projection, properly sized screens, and — critically — professional video calibration. Every display we install is calibrated, not merely installed: gray-scale, color, and light output measured and set to reference standards for the actual room, at the actual seating distance. Movie servers put your library and the latest releases a button-press away, at full quality no streaming service matches.

Media room or dedicated cinema — an honest answer. Not every family wants a windowless room with tiered seating, and not every great room can become a true theater. We will tell you plainly which your home and habits call for. A beautifully executed media room — great glass, daylight, honest acoustics, a serious but discreet system — is often the right answer, and we build both.

Before the drywall, ideally. The finest theaters in this valley were drawn before framing. Wire pathways, chair platforms, riser heights, door swings, equipment room placement, cooling — all of it is nearly free on paper and expensive after paint. If you are an architect, builder, or designer planning a home with a cinema, involve us at the drawing stage; our construction-grade documentation folds directly into your set. And if your home is finished — theaters are still very much buildable; it is simply a different conversation, and we have had it many times.

Home theater questions we hear most

When should we bring in a theater designer? At the architectural drawing stage, before framing. Room proportions, isolation, wiring, and mechanical routing are decided then. We regularly work directly with architects and builders in Jackson, Wilson, and Teton Village, and our drawings integrate with theirs.

Can an existing room become a real theater? Usually, yes. Bonus rooms, basements, and barns across the valley have become excellent cinemas. The honest constraints are ceiling height, room proportions, and sound isolation from bedrooms — we assess all three in one site visit and tell you what the room can truly become.

What does a luxury home theater cost? A dedicated reference-grade cinema is a significant construction and technology investment, and the range is wide — the room's size, isolation requirements, seating, and performance goals drive it far more than any single piece of equipment. We scope honestly at the design stage, in writing, before anything is ordered — so the number is a decision you make once, not a surprise that grows.

Is Dolby Atmos worth it in a home? In a properly designed room, unquestionably. Height channels are now standard in film mixes, and a calibrated Atmos theater reproduces them the way the mixing stage intended. In a compromised room, extra speakers cannot rescue poor acoustics — which is why we always start with the room.

Movie servers versus streaming — do we need both? Most of our clients run both. Streaming is convenience; a movie server is quality and permanence — full-bitrate picture and lossless sound, your library curated in one place, new releases often available at home while still in cinemas.

Our theater was installed by someone else. Will you service it? Yes. We inspect, recalibrate, upgrade, and maintain theaters we did not build — throughout Jackson Hole and the surrounding valleys, including Alpine, Victor, and Driggs. Many become long-term monitoring clients.
