For Architects & Builders · Technology, documented into your set
FROM RECENT PROJECT SETS: TECHNOLOGY PLAN · ACOUSTIC CEILING PLAN · SCREEN-WALL DETAILS
Most of our work begins with an architect, a builder, or a referral. Jackson Hole AV produces complete technology drawing packages on your CAD backgrounds — schematic design through construction documents — so AV, networking, lighting control, and window treatments are coordinated from day one. And we don't disappear when the set is issued: we stay through construction administration, with our own team on site.
Drawn on your backgrounds. This is where we differ from most integrators: we don't just plan the system, we document it. Our technology sheets are drawn on your architect's CAD backgrounds, as xrefs, so every trade builds from the same set and nothing is decided at the last minute on a ladder. Our in-house CAD designer works alongside the specialists who will install and program the system — the drawings and the finished rooms come from the same team.
Consulting, from the first sketch. Not every project needs a drawing set on day one. During conceptual design we meet with you and your client to resolve the technology objectives — speakers, Wi-Fi, surveillance, shades — along with the equipment room's space requirements, power and conduit coordination with the electrical design, and ceiling and millwork coordination for devices. Conceptual design consultation is billed hourly, only as needed — no retainer. Meetings, site visits, and RFIs during construction are handled the same way.
Pick only the sheets you need. Every project is different, so our documentation works from a sheet menu with per-sheet hour estimates — AV, network, and window-treatment sheets and lighting control, with theater and studio acoustics coordinated through our acoustical design partners. Choose the sheets your project needs and leave out the ones it doesn't. The sheet menu and documentation samples are available on request.
Acoustical design, with specialist partners. For dedicated theaters and recording studios, the room matters as much as the equipment. We work alongside dedicated theater-design specialists — acousticians and cinema engineers we have partnered with for years — and coordinate their acoustical design into the technology set, while remaining your single point of contact. One Teton Village theater existed as a 52-sheet design set before a single panel went up: the space is isolated from the house on a floating floor with engineered partition and baffle-wall build-ups, the HVAC is designed to a noise criterion with acoustically lined ductwork, speaker positions are dimensioned to the inch behind the fabric walls, and treatment is mapped panel by panel. See our home theater page for the full story.
Quiet rooms, not just loud ones. Acoustics isn't only for theaters. Architects and builders often ask us to soundproof bedrooms and isolate other rooms with sound dampening — keeping a media room, gym, or bunk room from carrying into the rest of the house. We plan it with you, and bring in our acoustical design partners when a room calls for it.
Lighting and shades, coordinated. We check Lutron fixture compatibility, plan the scenes and controls, and coordinate motorized shades and drapery with the openings they serve — so the lighting design, the window treatments, and the control system are resolved together on paper. See our lighting and shades page.
Infrastructure planned while the walls are open. For new construction and major renovations, we plan and install the backbone at the right moment: structured wiring terminated and labeled, network infrastructure sized for the whole family, equipment rooms planned for cooling, power, and service access, and conduit paths for the technology that doesn't exist yet. Before the drywall or wood ceilings close, every network cable run is tested and certified with high-end Fluke network testers — verifying 1, 5, or 10 Gb performance, since video switching calls for 10 Gb-certified runs — and every speaker pair is tested, and the documented results are kept for the client — which protects the builder, the homeowner, and us if a cable is ever damaged by other work after the walls are closed.
On your schedule, on your site. Our in-house team installs with the same care a builder brings to the trim work — clean racks, dressed wire, speakers and keypads placed to the drawings. Installation is done by our own specialists, never subbed out, with scheduling coordinated around the other trades and job sites left clean. It's how one Teton Village residence went from construction documents to move-in on our own CA-level drawing set — whole-home AV, an acoustically engineered private theater, motorized window treatments and drapery, and enterprise networking, all coordinated with the architect from the first background drawings.
Any style, any scale. Timber, log, and stone, or clean contemporary lines — the technology should disappear into the architecture either way. We've hidden speakers in log ceilings and set displays flush into millwork and stone, and we design to the budget and the style of the project rather than a standard package.
“I am an architect and have worked with Rich from Jackson Hole AV several times over the last decade. I am also currently working with him on two projects. He is easy to work with and extremely professional. He is able to work within a variety of budgets and architectural styles and seems to be very responsive to the client as well. I would highly recommend working with Rich.”
Ankeny Architecture and Design
Do you draw on our CAD files? Yes. Our technology sheets are drawn on your CAD backgrounds as xrefs, so they stay coordinated with your set and every trade builds from the same drawings.
What phases do you cover? Schematic design through construction documents, and we stay through construction administration. The earlier we're brought in, the easier it is to fold equipment locations, wiring, and acoustics into the design.
Can we bring you in just for consulting? Yes. Conceptual design consultation — resolving the client's technology goals, equipment-room space, power and conduit coordination, and device locations in ceilings and millwork — is billed hourly, only as needed, with no retainer. Construction-phase meetings, site visits, and RFIs are billed the same way.
Can we choose only some of the sheets? Yes. Our documentation works from a sheet menu with per-sheet hour estimates, so you pick only the sheets the project needs. The sheet menu and documentation samples are available on request.
What systems do your drawings cover? AV, networking, lighting control, and window treatments — including Lutron fixture compatibility and scene and control planning — with acoustical design for theaters and recording studios coordinated through our specialist partners.
Can you help soundproof bedrooms and other rooms? Yes. We help architects and builders soundproof bedrooms and isolate other rooms with sound dampening, and we bring in our acoustical design partners when a room calls for it.
Do you use subcontractors for installation? No. Installation is done by our own in-house specialists — never subbed out — and we coordinate scheduling with the builder and the other trades.
Who handles the acoustical design for a home theater? We work alongside dedicated theater-design specialists — acousticians and cinema engineers we have partnered with for years — and coordinate their design into the set, while remaining your single point of contact. Room isolation, partition and baffle-wall build-ups, HVAC noise criteria, speaker positions, and treatment layouts are documented sheet by sheet before construction.
